Natural Healing with Acupuncture or Non-Needle Therapy

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of flexible hair-thin, needles into specific points on the body along energy channels (meridians).

Non-Needle Therapies Include:

  • Medical Qigong (Energy Medicine; Reiki is a simplified method)
  • Acupressure and Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage)
  • Micro current-Light Therapy
  • Kaufman Pain Neutralization Technique™
  • Arthrostim®
  • Ear seeds
  • Topical Chinese Herbal Remedies
  • Chinese Herbal Medicine
  • Nutritional Supplements

How Acupuncture Works

Think of an electrical wiring system and how the wires carry the current from one place to another. Acupuncture is similar, with its system of pathways (meridians) that carry energy from head to toe. These major pathways then make deeper connections to fascia, muscles, internal organs, and the brain. The energy that runs through these channels is called Qi (chee). The purpose of Acupuncture is to provide all areas, organs and functions with adequate, balanced and smooth flowing Qi.

Along the major meridians are special locations where changes to Qi can be made. These are the acupuncture points - where needles are inserted.

The change in energy (Qi) is actually made via the nervous system, as the acupuncture point on the skin relays information to the brain. This elicits a response from the brain, triggering the endocrine, hormonal, muscular, biochemical, or immune system. The goal is to stimulate the correct points for the response and results that we desire.

For good health, the body should run like a well-functioning electrical system. Acupuncture helps the body maintain ample energy and keeps its ‘circuitry’ intact.

Assessment, Energy, Nutrition and Movement -
Our Unique & Effective Approach

At The Acupuncture Office, our approach is to promote healing on a deep level while providing symptomatic relief to you. We use a unique system to first assess what are the fundamental and most important steps to help you recover your health. The goal is to rebalance your energy, revitalize your body’s innate healing energy and strengthen it with the necessary raw materials to truly heal. We believe that everyone's health can improve if you start to heal from the deepest level.

More and more current research of chronic conditions point to the functions of the digestive and immune systems. There are two areas that we always address. In fact, we believe that a good immune system depends on a healthy digestive system.

Individualized Assessment

This will be the foundation of our treatment. We do this using a unique diagnostic system that includes Chinese Medicine practice skills, physical mobility evaluations, and Acupuncture Meridian testing. Combined, they give us a 'reading' of what is vital for you -- energetically, nutritionally and physically.  This assessment, which is repeated at each office visit, guides us in your acupuncture treatment and in our recommendation of herbs and nutritional supplements. Any dietary or exercise/stretching regimens are also based on what we learn during the assessment.

Nutrition

The raw materials your body needs come in the form of nourishing food, herbal formulas and key nutrients. (Yintang Therapeutics). The trend in nutritional therapy is to use numerous supplements, assuming that they will help the body to a greater degree. Clinically, we have found this not to be the case, and have observed that it can even impede improvement. We typically recommend only one or two herbal formulas/supplements at a time that are absolutely crucial to your recovery. In this way your body gets what it truly needs without interference or confusion and the healing process actually speeds up!

Balance and Strengthen Your Energy

Acupuncture and related non-needle therapies help with this. Acupuncture is not just about placing a needle in a certain point to release 'stuck' Qi (energy.)  Health problems occur when energies are imbalanced, or when there is too much or too little. All health conditions, including pain, insomnia, anxiety, hormonal problems, and fatigue can be described in terms of an energetic pattern. We treat the condition by resolving the pattern and getting systems to work properly again.

Movement

Another key element to your health is the movement you are capable of doing. Limited movement can result from a number of reasons and our technique allows us to zero in on what and how this can be remedied.
What does our approach do for you? Our patients often see these results– feeling better and stronger, being relieved from pain, being able to move better and do more, needing fewer medications, and feeling younger!
